Winter Wonderland

While I have been neglecting this blog for quite some time it was not due to a lack of wanting to post, but more of multiple other things. First, and most obvious is the weather. While we have been lucky enough to enjoy one of the nicest winters I am sure this state has had, it is still cold and windy so being outside normally isn’t any less miserable.  I have also been busy, well more busy than normal with work mainly and other activities that I am trying to focus my time on.

So, on to the pictures. I took these two days ago when I went to Lincoln Park with my friend Mitch. The trees had this beautiful frosty snow that was covering all of the branches and there had been a light to moderate fog that was hanging over Grand Forks making it look mysterious and beautiful. By the time we got to the park the sun had decided to start peaking through the clouds and things started melting. I am extremely satisfied with the outcome of the following images and I hope you all are too!

#OCCUPY

Yes, even small towns like Grand Forks ND are participating in this amazing movement, we have joined together in solidarity with cities around the world to have our voices be heard and fight back against corporate greed. We were only able to have one demonstration before daylight savings time when it started getting dark out early. Here are some of the pictures from the first demonstration.

**If you are in any of these pictures and do not want to be on my blog, please let me know and I will promptly remove it.

If you are interested in more information about the occupy grand forks movement, please visit our blog site: http://blog.occupygf.org/

Here you will find many other helpful links about the occupy movement! As always, thank you for taking a look.

Long time, no post.

I apologize for not posting in forever but I have just been very busy and preoccupied. So for now, here is a short post and hopefully I will stay a little bit more consistent even with the weather now getting terrible.

These pictures were all taken in Minnesota anywhere from where we got out of the car to down on the riverbank. I hope you all enjoy and please feel free to comment!

This last one of the moon was not taken in Minnesota. I took it outside of our apartment and was very pleased with the result, the moon is SO HARD to get a decent picture of if you don’t have really awesome equipment.

Thank you to everyone who took a look!

Adventures by the river.

So, I have to admit that I kind of forgot that I had this blog, I have just been extremely preoccupied with a lot of other things. I finally have some free time and a chance to get some pictures posted! : D My friends and I have been taking advantage of the awesome weather that we have been lucky enough to have. We have gone for a few adventures around the border of Minnesota and North Dakota along The Red River. Here are just a few of the pictures I have taken, I haven’t really had a chance to go through all of them, but soon enough I will hopefully.

Thank you everyone for taking a look.

A walk downtown.

We have been really lucky the last couple of weeks here in Grand Forks, North Dakota. This Fall’s weather has been wonderful. Perfect weather for a light jacket or a sweater, and sunny all the time. I have had a lot of opportunities to be outside and take some pictures. Here are just a few from one of the first days I decided to talk a walk downtown.

Fall really is the best time of the year, I think it is so beautiful. All of the colors are great for photographing, I wish it could be fall all year!  Well, thank you everyone for taking a look!

Summer evenings.

I already find myself missing summer, even though fall is by far my favorite season. As October nears it’s end and the weather becomes more and more chilly the impending doom of an icy winter starts to set in.

…So here is a picture of one of those warm summer evenings that we will all be anticipating come January, please, enjoy.

Some more San Haven

So, first I apologize for the lack of updating because to be honest it’s not like I haven’t had much time or anything like that I have just kind of lacked the motivation. It makes me very sad knowing that winter is approaching and my ability to photograph will be extremely limited due to the intense winters that North Dakota has to offer it’s residents. None of the pictures I am posting today are new, they are from a few months ago when I made my second and final trip up to San Haven. Today I just realized that I hadn’t posted any pictures from that second trip here in my blog, so I hope you all enjoy!

Also, if you would like more information about San Haven I gave a much better description about it on the first blog I posted. To make things easy for everyone, here is a link to that post:

…see, I am nice.

Thank you so much for looking everyone. Have a great Monday.

The city.

Last weekend I got the chance to get out of Grand Forks for a little bit and take a mini vacation in Minneapolis, MN. It was a lot of fun, I got to meet a lot of new people and do new things. What I like so much about being in a big city like Minneapolis is the diversity in almost everything. From the way the buildings were painted to the different kind of people, you can always find something different and interesting around there.

I didn’t get to take as many pictures there as I would have liked to because it seemed like there was always somewhere that we needed to be going or something that we needed to be doing, not that I am trying to complain about that! : D

I thought this turtle sculpture was so cute! It was in the plaza that was in front of the federal building and there were several other adorable metal critters hanging around but the turtle was definitely my favorite!

The US bank plaza/building, I thought they looked better in black and white.

The Hard Times Cafe was my favorite place to spend time there. Being there was like being in some sort of alternate ideal version of the local coffee shop I frequent. They served the best chai tea I have ever experienced, and I found out that they pre-make a liquid batch of the chai to use for drinks. Not only were the beverages great but they also offered a full vegetarian and vegan menu. Being in Grand Forks, ND I am pretty used to not having a large selection of places I can go to eat as a vegetarian without worrying whether they will have something to offer for me or not. I ate the best veggie burger I have tried in a long time at the Hard Times Cafe, and I can’t wait to go back.

I thought this traffic pole was so adorable with this knitted multi color yarn wrapped all around it, and couldn’t resist snapping a quick picture before crossing the street.

I absolutely loved the vibrant and beautiful color all over this building. This is only the side of it and the front is even more intricate and colorful with patterns and diamonds all over. I am a huge fan of color and vibrance, which I think anyone who follows this blog can be able to see, so this building seriously made my day. I love everything about it.

Thank you so much everyone who took the time to look at and read this rather wordy blog, but I have a lot to say about a city that I am completely in love with. It is my second favorite place I have ever actually been to and I am glad I got the chance to get out there before the weather prevented me from going anywhere at all.

The river side in black and white

I don’t often do much work in black and white, mainly because I forget about it due to the fact that I am just obsessed with color. Black and white is great though because it forces the viewer to focus more on the lighting and textures of a photograph.

All of these pictures were taken a couple of nights ago when a friend and I took a little trip down to the river side before the sunset to enjoy the beauty that fall has to offer. Living in Grand Forks though, we also know that the days are getting numbered before the freezing winter sets in and dooms everyone to the warm indoors in fear of an icy death. Alright a little bit melodramatic, but seriously winter here….. you will die if you are outside too long.  Enough rambling from me, here are the pictures!

Thank for taking a look.

I am leaving for Minneapolis in a few hours and I am super stoked for this mini vacation! My camera battery is charging and I am wiping my memory card as soon as I am done with this post so I will have a lot of new pictures to post after the weekend. : D

Butterfly

I decided to walk to campus yesterday while Matt was in class, and I really needed to get out of my apartment  for  a bit.  There was a beautiful Monarch butterfly hanging out in one of the many gardens. I was able to catch a couple of nice shots of it, even thought it was not a very easy task to accomplish because the thing really didn’t like to stay still.

Thank you for looking.

Also, I know I say this a lot but please feel free to share this blog with anyone you know that you think might also enjoy the images. : D

Happy Tuesday, I hope you all have a fantastic week.
